How Do I Submit Assignments?
All assignments must be attached to the dropbox and submitted as a word document. NUVHS uses the program from Turnitin.com to scan all assignments for plagiarism. Please make sure you are submitting original work and giving credit to any resources you use to complete your assignment.
For a walk through on how to use the dropbox watch the video "How To Use The Dropbox" in the Course Home menu. There is also a link to a video with directions for converting work completed on a Mac into a .doc format.

How Fast Can I Complete My Course?
NUVHS has a minimum four week course engagement requirement that must be met before grades can be released. The student must demonstrate that they are logging into their course and working for at least four weeks before they can complete their course for credit. Any courses completed under four weeks will not eligible for course credit.
If you are planning to complete your course as quickly as possible please complete no more than two units a week. This will ensure you meet the four week minimum for course engagement.
If more than two units are submitted per week please do not expect a 24 - 48 hour grade turn around.

Can I Revise My Assignments?
Instructors at NUVHS will have different policies on revising assignments for additional credit.
In college prep courses you will have the opportunity to revise all assignments in Unit 1 for full credit. This will allow you to understand how I grade and let you adjust to my expectations.
AP courses can revise one assignment per unit with the chance to receive one additional point unless otherwise noted.
After Unit 1 I allow one revision per unit for the opportunity to increase your score by one letter grade.
Assessments and the final project are not open to revisions and will be final grades once submitted.

Why Isn't My Instructor Responding On the Weekends?
While I try to check my email as often as possible I am not in my office on the weekends.
My office hours are 8:00 am (PST) - 4:30 pm (PST) Monday - Friday
During the week I strive to have all assignments graded and returned with feedback within 24-48 hours. This also includes responses to any email or phone calls.

When Will The Discussion Boards Be Graded?
The discussion boards remain open all term and students can continue to add to the discussions from any unit until their grade has been finalized.
Because of the on going nature of the discussion boards I usually wait for a couple weeks before I start entering scores for the discussions. This allows everyone ample time to complete the discussions and make sure you aren't penalized for not having all of your posts completed.

Why Am I Not Getting Full Credit for the Discussion Boards?
The discussion boards will be graded on participation and effort. I am looking for all students to respond to each topic three times. Responses should include your original thought/response. This thought should be thorough and thoughtfully addressing the discussion prompt. You are not graded for being right or wrong on the discussion boards but on the effort of sharing and discussing your thoughts on the topic and content of the unit.
Almost all units will have multiple topics and both topics should be addressed three times in order to receive full credit.
After your respond with your original response you are asked to respond to your classmates two times for each topic. These responses should add to the discussion. It is OK to agree or disagree with your classmate, but please be respectful at all times. Any disrespectful responses will be immediately removed from the discussion boards.
Responses like "I like what you said I said the same thing in my post" or "Great idea" will not be awarded credit. Responses to your classmates should be thoughtful and encourage more discussion. Tell your classmate why you agree or disagree with them and share why you feel this way. Ask them a follow up question.

There will be no extensions granted to complete the course. Please make sure that you have submitted all of your assignments, assessment and project before midnight on the last day of the course.
The pacing guide you received when you enrolled in the course will have the last day of the term on it. You can also view the pacing guide on this website by clicking on the menu item "Pacing Guide".
Please note that the dropboxes are time stamped in Mountain time and that I work on Pacific Standard Time. So as long as your assignments are submitted before the 1:00am time stamp in the dropbox they will be accepted and graded.

How Do I Get My Transcript After I Finish My Course?
Your official transcript can be requested after I finalize your grade by calling the Student Services office at 866.366.8847.
Please be prepared to let Student Services know where your transcript should be sent.
Remember that your transcript request will need to be processed by student services and won't be sent out immediately after you make the request.
This means that you should plan on finishing your course in a timely manner if you know you have a deadline you must meet for your transcript. I recommend finishing your course at least 10 days before you need the official transcript. You should also not expect your transcript the next day if you are submitting multiple units of work right before you need your grade.
Transcripts usually take up to seven days to arrive after they are mailed out. There is a overnight option available as well for a small fee. Please visit https://secure1.nu.edu/vhs/transcript-request.cfm to request your official transcript.
If you are a graduating senior or have a deadline for your grade you should let your instructor know at the beginning of the course to make sure you complete your assignments with enough time for your instructor to get everything graded and finalized before your deadline.
