I will be out of the office this week April 24-27, but I will continue to respond to email and get as many assignments graded as I can. Please be patient this week if your assignments aren’t graded as quickly as I usually get them graded.
Office hours for this week will also be canceled. Remember you can still email me if you need any help! Mr. Braden Today Thursday April 19th is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Under the direction of Adolf Hitler 6 million Jews were exterminated in Nazi controlled death camps across Europe in the name of racial purity. In 1980 the United States Congress declared April 19th a national day of remembrance for those who both survived and were lost to the Holocaust. It is also a day for people to remember what happened, because this is part of human history now. Unfortunately these heinous acts of human extermination have not completely stopped and we have seen recent acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing as recently as 1992-1995 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Rwanda in 1994, Cambodia during the years of the Khmer Rouge 1975-1979 and Darfur, Sudan which started in 2003 and is an ongoing problem.
Mr. Braden We have a lot of great discussions going on in class! Don't forget to get involved and share your opinions.
Remember in order to get full credit for the discussion boards you need to post on each topic 3 times. We will have 2 topics in each unit and 3 topics in unit 1. Mr. Braden Don't forget to check out the historical figure of the month for April!
If you have any favorite people from the past make sure you email me their name, why you like them and why you think they should be featured as our historical figure of the month! Mr. Braden |
