Please remember that all assignments are required. I have had a couple questions about how many assignments need to be completed per unit and the answer is all of the assignments are graded and factored into your final grade. Also keep in mind that the gradebook is only calculating the assignments and assessments that have been graded. Any incomplete assignments have not been factored into the grade percentage. This means that the percentage you see is only reflecting your current progress and not your overall grade. Mr. Braden Once enrolled at NUVHS you should have been made aware of the minimum engagement requirements for all NUVHS courses. As a school we have to ensure that our students are meeting the online course engagement criteria and because of this we have a minimum time limit/ course activity requirement for all of our course. Non AP Course - For all non AP courses students must demonstrate activity in the course for at least 4 weeks. This doesn't mean you have to finish the course in 4 weeks, but it does mean that you cannot complete the course in less than 4 weeks. To make sure you are meeting the four week course minimum please do not complete more than 2 units a week. This will also reduce the load on me and allow me to grade assignments quicker. AP Courses - Our AP Courses are held to a different stand because of the nature of the course and relationship with the college board. Students must be engaged and working in AP Courses for a minimum of 8 weeks. The easiest way to meet this requirement is to complete one unit a week. If you have questions please let me know:) Mr. Braden Discussion Boards - Discussion boards will be open all term. Because of the asynchronous style of the course I will not be grading discussions immediately after you complete them. The discussions will be graded towards the end of June and can be updated continually until you complete the course. Expectations - You should notice that almost every unit has multiple topics. In order to get full credit for the discussion boards you must respond to each topic 3 times. Original response - This response is where you share your thoughts. This response should be a minimum of one paragraph and addressing the prompt that is assigned. 2 replies to classmates - You should respond to 2 classmates for each topic. Remember to always be respectful. Disrespectful or rude posts will be immediately removed and you will not get credit for the discussion board. Continual poor conduct on the discussion will result in disciplinary action. Your responses should be thoughtful and drive the discussion forward. Replies like "I like what you said" or "Good job I said the same thing" do not really add to the conversation and will not earn additional credit. Let your classmate know what you liked or disagreed with in their posts and why. This is a place to share our understanding and perspective on these topics. Mr. Braden |
